The End Doesn’t Justify the Means When you Deliberately Deceive

….In modern times [1] H.L.Mencken defined a demagogue as, “one who preaches doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots.” Mencken also explains why he knows they are untrue. “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” Obama plays the game by finding a fault and inflating and conflating it to a catastrophe. It’s easy because, you can always find fault and elaboration is easy. Elaboration is always to the point where he can argue government intervention is the only solution. Here a third Mencken quote is relevant. “The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.” Thomas Sowell already identified Obama as a demagogue and has written about his urge to save humanity. “Barack Obama says that he wants to “heal America and repair the world.” One wonders what he will do for an encore and whether he will rest on the seventh day.” Obama the great savior rides to the rescue assuring people he does not want it this way but there is no choice; besides government intervention is only temporary. The giveaway is there is no substance and no proof.[2] Sowell notes, “It is not too much to ask politicians to talk specifics, instead of trying to sweep us along, turning off our minds and turning on our emotions, with soaring rhetoric”….
