Canadian Oil Sands Q2 profits rise by 54% but production forecast falls

CALGARY (CP) - Sustained high oil prices boosted Canadian Oil Sands Trust’s (TSX:COS.UN) second-quarter profits by 54 per cent or $100 million, but troubles with its new oilsands upgrader have lead to higher operating costs and a further drop in annual production forecasts….
The trust’s earnings were severely impacted after Alberta Environment ordered Syncrude to shut down its new $8.4 billion Stage Three expansion at Syncrude in May due to urine-like smells apparently coming from new technology designed to eliminate sulphur-dioxide emissions….
